Sound Baths

Malbert Lee, a Hong Kong-based Crystal Bowl and Gong Master, says vibrations are especially useful for healing the body. “The adult body is 75% water, and water is a great conductor for sound vibration,” he notes. “When vibrations travel through the body, they promote circulation, energy flow, and rejuvenation. The frequency of the sound synchronizes with the brainwaves and activates de-stress responses in the body.”

What are sound baths good for?

Sound restores our vibration to a state of harmony. And there is research to back it up. A recent study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine found that hour-long sound meditations help to reduce tension, anger, anxiety, and increase spiritual well-being in adults.

 Just as color has a frequency, so too does sound. Our energy centers resonate to specific musical notes. I currently play frosted crystal singing bowls made of quartz crystal vibrating with the frequencies of the 7 chakras.

Root = C, Sacral = D, Solar Plexus = E, Heart = F, Throat = G, Third Eye = A, Crown = B

Gong sound healing relieves stress and has a profound, revitalizing effect on the immune and nervous systems. When you bathe in the healing sound of the sacred gong no mind chatter can stand in the way. The wave of total sound is both heard with the ears and felt as a powerful vibration sweeping over and penetrating deeply into the body. A gong bath is cleansing, releasing, healing and harmonizing on all levels.

What happens in a Sound Bath?

You lay comfortably on the floor or ground on a yoga mat, often with your head towards the the crystal bowls.

Melanie begins with setting intentions for the experience, followed by an immersive vibrational sound bath via crystal bowls, symphonic gong and chimes.

Approximately 50-60 minutes.

What are people reporting after a sound bath?

Feeling more balanced, clear, deeply relaxed and lighter are common statements after a sound bath. In addition, some report experiences of dropping stresses and feeling shifts mentally and physically, increased energy and positivity as well as a quiet mind.

Many people report the amazing feeling of the sound waves moving through their body and head.
